³³They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean by saying, ‘You will be set free’?” ³⁴Jesus replied,

“Amen, amen, I say to you,
everyone who sins
is a slave of sin.
³⁵A slave does not remain in a household forever,
but a son remains in it forever.
